Deadline reports that The CW has gone ahead and tapped the suburban drama Ruthless for development. Michael Weatherly (Bull) brought the project to the network under his Solar Drive Productions.
According to the trade, Ruthless centers on an ex-CIA operative, desperate for a normal life after a decade spent as a government killing machine, and a slightly unhinged teenage girl craving an escape from the mundane, who are forced into an unlikely alliance. Together, they begin to expose the dark secrets of their idyllic suburb as the former assassin helps her gleeful protégé survive tenth grade without a body count.
Olson and Weatherly executive produce. Weatherly’s producing partner, Tiffany Grant, serves as co-executive producer. CBS Television Studios, where Weatherly and his Solar Drive are under an overall deal, is the studio.
Weatherly is most known for his work on the hit CBS show NCIS, where he portrayed Anthony DiNozzo from 2003 to 2016. He is now currently starring as the titular character of CBS’s Bull, which is currently on its third season. Under Solar Drive Productions, Weatherly currently has a detective drama titled MIA currently under development at CBS.
