Writer Felicia D. Henderson and producer Darryl Taja have been given a script commitment from ABC to develop the drama series PANK, per a report from Variety. The one hour drama tells the story of Faith Jones, the titular PANK — an acronym that stands for Professional Auntie; No Kids — whose personal and professional life becomes upended when she’s tasked with taking care of her brother’s three kids.
Henderson will pen the script, as well as executive produce alongside Taja.
The project comes as part of a larger commitment Henderson signed into with 20th TV, which will have her to develop new projects with Taja, her longtime manager and now her producing partner via her WaterWalk Entertainment banner. She’ll also be joining the Fox drama Empire as a consulting producer as part of the deal.
Most recently, Henderson co-created BET’s The Quad, as well as a two-year run as executive producer on Marvel’s The Punisher, which airs on Netflix. Her credits include work on Soul Food, Gossip Girl and Fringe, as well as some work on comedies including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Everybody Hates Chris and Family Matters.
