Fans of the country music soap opera Nashville may not have to waiting very long for another musical project from executive producers Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin. Deadline is reporting that NBC has given a script commitment to the duo for a music themed hour long drama. The producers will team up with Emmy nominated actor Milo Ventimiglia and Empire writer/director Craig Brewer for the series. The show will be produced by 20th Century FOX TV and Ventimiglia and Russ Cundiff’s DiVide Pictures.
The untitled new drama will focus on Madison, a gifted musician that has a breakdown on stage that unfortunately goes viral. With new determination to get her career back on track, Madison decides to team up with musical sisters to form a band. The group start to deal with the ups and downs of the music industry and the personal goals of each woman.
Producers Lavender and Ulin worked on Nashville for it’s entire run at ABC and will serve as producers on this upcoming project along with DiVide Pictures’ Ventimiglia and Cundiff and Brewer set to direct.
It is unknown when the new drama will premiere on NBC.
