Lauren Cohan will be back for more on The Walking Dead
It was revealed on Tuesday night at CinemaCon by Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Green on The Walking Dead, that she will be returning to the AMC comic book adaptation for the ninth season. The actress was there to promote her upcoming movie, Mile 22, with Mark Wahlberg when she was asked by EW to give an update on The Walking Dead.
This news comes after fans were wondering whether or not the actress would return to the show after it was revealed that she was in the process of negotiating a payment deal prior to signing onto Season 9. Concerns that she would not return grew when Cohan joined the ABC pilot Whiskey Cavalier. Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus had already signed on to return for Season 9 prior to this announcement.
There is still no news yet on whether or not ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier has received a series order yet. Whether or not the series gets picked up may determine Cohan’s availability to film on The Walking Dead.
Season 8 concluded earlier this month. Filming for Season 9 begins next week.
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse, and follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.
The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Austin Amelio, Tom Payne, Xander Berkeley, Khary Payton, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
