Disney’s Bob Iger says ‘a few’ Star Wars TV series are in the works for their streaming service
Today, during an earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that there are “a few” Star Wars TV series in the works for their upcoming Disney streaming app.
“We are developing not just one, but a few Star Wars series specifically for the Disney direct-to-consumer app. We’ve mentioned that and we are close to being able to reveal at least one of the entities that is developing that for us. Because the deal isn’t completely closed, we can’t be specific about that. I think you’ll find the level of talent… on the television front will be rather significant as well.”

Iger had mentioned the development of a Star Wars TV series back in November, along with a High School Musical series and a Monsters, Inc. series, though this announcement revealed that there will be multiple ones for the streaming service. The service will launch in late 2019.
The news came in addition to the big announcement that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are set to take on new Star Wars films.
