Earlier this week, the BBC announced that Jenna-Louise Coleman has secured a starring role in the upcoming series of “Doctor Who.” Today, BBC America has revealed the first official image of Coleman as the Doctor’s (Matt Smith) new (still unnamed) companion. She’ll make her debut in the also-untitled Christmas special that will air this December.
The Doctor is said to meet Coleman’s character in a dramatic turn of events as the show builds towards its 50th anniversary year. Series seven is currently filming and comprises 14 big, blockbuster-movie episodes. For the first time, the BBC is also confirming that current companion, Karen Gillan, will have her final appearance during series seven’s fifth episode.
