The Hollywood Reporter says Amy Smart has been tapped as the lead in CBS’ drama pilot “Meant to Be’s,” and Fred Savage has landed the lead on another CBS pilot, comedy “Single White Millionaire.”
On the directing side, “Desperate Housewives” helmer Larry Shaw has been tapped to direct CBS’ drama pilot “Ny-Lon.”
“Meant to Be’s,” from CBS Paramount and creator Glenn Gordon Caron, is a romantic drama about Janine (Smart), a wealthy young gallery owner in New York who elopes one night only to be thrown from her 40th-floor balcony en route to her honeymoon. She becomes a “Meant to Be,” helping people on Earth head in the “meant to be” direction before she can go to heaven.
“Millionaire,” from Warner Bros. and writer Ricky Blitt, is a multicamera comedy about an unassuming millionaire (Savage) in his 30s who is ready to settle down.
