The Walking Dead Companion Series to Take Place in Los Angeles

The spin-off series to AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is starting to take shape as TVLine reports the series has found its setting – Los Angeles. With the main series set in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, it makes sense for the companion show to try out life, or rather death, on the West Coast.

Cliff Curtis will lead the companion series, also known as “Cobalt,” which revolves around a male divorced teacher (Curtis) and a female guidance counselor. He’s joined by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey.

Co-created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, the series will take place in the same zombie apocalypse depicted in “The Walking Dead” albeit in a different location and potentially at a different point in time. Erickson will serve as the showrunner for the new series, which will be executive produced by Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert. Adam Davidson will direct the pilot episode, which will shoot in early 2015.
