NBC has signed frequent Judd Apatow collaborator Paul Feig (“Freaks and Geeks”) to direct the pilot for the Molly Shannon comedy “Kath & Kim,” reports Variety.
Feig, a writer-turned-helmer, recently had a role in Apatow’s Knocked Up. The duo co-created “Freaks and Geeks” and Feig directed Apatow’s short-lived Fox series “Undeclared.”
“Kath & Kim” is based on an Australian format about a woman and her daughter. Universal Media Studios and Reveille are producing the project, which — barring any strike-related difficulties — is expected to film later this fall.
Feig has directed a number of TV shows, including “Arrested Development,” “30 Rock” and “Mad Men.”
