The Hollywood Reporter says Jack Carpenter (“Lipshitz Saves the World”) has been cast as the lead in Comedy Central’s half-hour pilot “Held Up.”
Additionally, Carpenter is set to recur on Fox’s midseason comedy “The Return of Jezebel James.”
“Held Up,” from Sony Pictures TV, centers on a bored bank teller (Carpenter) whose life changes dramatically when two teams of crazy robbers — disguised as James Bond, Spider-Man, Batman and Larry, Curly and Mo — hold up his branch.
Also cast in the project, a comedic take on the Stockholm Syndrome — in which victims bond with their hostage-takers — are Aaron Hendry (“Passions”), Bree Turner (Just My Luck) and Jeremiah Birkett (“Windfall”).
“Held Up” is executive produced by Jamie Tarses, Alan Freedland, Alan Cohen and Gene Hong.
“Jezebel,” from Regency TV, centers on Sarah (Parker Posey), a successful book editor who can’t conceive and asks her estranged younger sister Coco (Lauren Ambrose) to carry her baby for her.
In a role written for Carpenter by the show’s creator/executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino, Carpenter will play Coco’s ex-boyfriend.
