Award-winning actor Oscar Isaac is set to executive produce and star in Apple TV+’s upcoming biopic Stowaway

Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen, Tick, Tick… Boom!) will be developing the series, with the pilot episode set to be directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, The Current War). According to Variety, the streaming giant has closed a deal for the rights to Stowaway following “a competitive situation.”

What is Oscar Isaac’s new show Stowaway about?

Stowaway will see Isaac play Juan Carlos Guzmán, a Colombian impostor named the “greatest conman alive.” In his ambition to become rich, Guzmán has stolen millions from the rich in different countries using false identities. The upcoming biopic is set to chronicle how Guzmán had laid out his plans and how his pretenses resulted in him being pursued in various countries like Japan, Canada, Mexico, and more.

The plot description for Stowaway reads as follows: “Traveling the globe, donning one alias after another, he stole millions from the wealthy clientele staying at the world’s most exclusive hotels. Yet no matter how seamlessly he could assume the identity of his victims, Juan always found himself on the run — not just from Scotland Yard, the Las Vegas Police Department or Interpol, but from a past he seemed unable to fully escape.”

Hailed as one of the best actors of the 21st century, Isaac has made a name for himself in features like Inside Llewyn Davis, Ex Machina, A Most Violent Year, The Promise, Drive, Annihilation, Balibo, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Dune.

The actor also starred as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars franchise, including in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He also lent his voice to the character in animated series Star Wars Resistance.

Isaac will serve as Stowaway’s executive producer through his Mad Gene Media production company. Additional executive producers include Elvira Lind, Gena Konstantinakos,  Drew Comins, Matthew Bremner, Levenson, and Gomez-Rejon.
