Netflix has officially tapped Steve Coogan (Philomena) and Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) to lead the Legends cast for the upcoming six-episode heist thriller series. It will be inspired by one of the most remarkable criminal investigations ever conducted.
Besides Legends, Coogan will also appear in another Netflix series in the form of The Sandman Season 2, where he’ll be playing the role of Barnabus. He was most recently seen in last year’s Joker: Folie à Deux and The Penguin Lessons movies. Meanwhile, Burke gained recognition for his role in the 2024 prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. He is currently attached to star in the Blade Runner 2099 miniseries, which will be led by Michelle Yeoh.
Who else is in the Legends cast?
In addition to Coogan and Burke, Netflix has also enlisted Charlotte Ritchie (You), Hayley Squires (Beau Is Afraid), Jasmine Blackborow (The Gentlemen), Aml Ameen (A Man in Full), Douglas Hodge (G20), Tom Hughes (The English, Victoria), Johnny Harris (A Gentleman in Moscow), and Gerald Kyd (The Assassin) to the heist thriller series. Further details about their respective characters are still under wraps.
“Set in the early ’90s, the series follows a group of ordinary British Customs officers, who are given a top-secret mission: infiltrate the country’s most notorious criminal drug gangs, and help take them down from the inside,” reads the official logline.
Legends is written and created by Neil Forsyth (The Gold), with Brady Hood (Top Boy, Great Expectations) and Julian Holmes (Reacher, The Boys) directing multiple episodes. It is executive produced by Forsyth, Ben Farrell, and Richard Bradley, with Charlie Leech serving as a producer. At the moment, the series currently has no official release date yet.
