House of David Season 2 Renewal Confirmed, Prime Video Unveils Record Viewership

Amazon MGM Studios has officially confirmed the House of David Season 2 renewal for Prime Video‘s newest biblical drama. The first installment is currently ongoing, with the sixth episode titled “Giants Awakened,” scheduled to premiere this Thursday, March 20. For its first 17 days since debuting, the show has already garnered 22 million viewers. It is also currently in the top 10 new series debuts in the US to date.

“Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn’s compelling creative vision has solidified our belief in the series and we are excited to deliver more of the story to our customers,” Amazon MGM Studios executive Vernon Sanders said in a statement. “We look forward to a continued journey with Wonder Project as we further expand our slate to encompass faith-based series.”

What did the series creators say about the House of David Season 2 renewal?

Visionary filmmakers and Wonder Project creative leaders Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn are once again serving as directors, writers, and executive producers for House of the David Season 2. Lead star Michael Iskander will also be reprising his titular role, along with fellow returning cast members Ali Suliman (Jack Ryan) as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer (Angels And Demons) as Queen Ahinoam, Stephen Lang (Avatar: The Way of Water) as Samuel, Indy Lewis (Industry) as Mychal and Yali Topol Margalith (Tattooist of Auschwitz) as Mirab, Ethan Kai as Jonathan, Sam Otto (Snowpiercer) as Eshbaal, Oded Fehr (Star Trek) as Abner, Louis Ferreira (Breaking Bad) as Jesse, and more.

House of David is based on an idea by Erwin. It is produced by Wonder Project, Amazon MGM Studios, Nomadic Pictures, Argonauts, Kingdom Story Company, and Lionsgate Television. It is also executive produced by Justin Rosenblatt, Trey Callaway, Michael Frislev, Chad Oakes, Ethan Reiff & Cyrus Voris, and Jonathan Walker.

“The story tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David, who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel,” reads the official synopsis. “Season 2 will follow the aftermath of the battle between David and Goliath and David’s rise to the throne. As he navigates palace politics, his family’s jealousy, and a growing romance, David steps deeper into his destiny and learns what it means to become a great leader.”
