Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are opening up about Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk’s relationship in the MCU series.
The first two episodes of Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again were released on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. The series follows the events of the Netflix Daredevil show and sees Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdock, while D’Onofrio also returns as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Things have changed for Matt and Wilson since the events of the Netflix show. Born Again sees Fisk become the elected mayor of New York City, while Matt decides to give up being Daredevil following the death of his best friend, Foggy Nelson, played by Elden Henson.
What did Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onfrio say about Fisk and Matt in Daredevil: Born Again?
Despite this, Matt is still keeping a close eye on Fisk, and vice versa. On The Official Marvel Podcast, D’Onofrio described their relationship as being “inseparable in sort of an awful way.”
He continued, “I think we sort of need each other to exist, but would rather the other didn’t exist.”
Cox said, “I always say, if you have a passionate love of a sports team, I posed the question — would you want your biggest rival, your arch-nemesis, would you wish them into non-existence if you could? I think most people would answer no. The fabric of your identity is tied up with their existence. And I think that’s probably true of Fisk and Daredevil.”
The cast of Daredevil: Born Again also includes Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter/Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blake, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk, Kamar de los Reyes as Hector Ayala/White Tiger, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher.
The first three episodes of Marvel‘s Daredevil: Born Again are now streaming on Disney+.
