Netflix has officially started developing The Perfect Couple Season 2, which will serve as a standalone sequel to the Nicole Kidman-led mystery thriller series. The next installment will be led by a new set of cast, writer, and showrunner.
Season 2 will be written by The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo, who is also executive producing alongside Kidman, Susanne Bier, Gail Berman, Shawn Levy, Per Saari and Hend Baghdady. Just like the first installment, the next season will be based on another one of bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand’s novels.
What book will The Perfect Couple Season 2 adapt?
The Perfect Couple Season 2 will adapt the story from Hilderbrand’s most recent novel, Swan Song, which was first published in 2024. This mark Hilderbrand’s fourth book to take place in Nantucket.
“It follows what happens when the mysterious Richardson family buys a $22 million house on Nantucket,” reads the synopsis. “The Richardsons throw huge parties, flirt with locals, own two yachts and raise the hopes of everyone they meet. When their house burns down and the family’s most essential employee goes missing, the island’s residents are beside themselves.”
Season 1 was written and executive produced by showrunner Jenna Lamia, based on Elin Hilderbrand’s book of the same name. Besides Kidman, it also starred Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning, Eve Hewson, Billy Howle, Jack Reynor, Ishaan Khatter, Meghann Fahy, Sam Nivola, Michael Beach, Donna Lynne Champlin, Mia Isaac, and Isabelle Adjani. Since its debut, the series has garnered a Tomatometer rating of 65% on Rotten Tomatoes.
