CBS has canceled FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, two of its major primetime shows. Part of Dick Wolf and Wolf Entertainment’s FBI franchise, Most Wanted and International are currently on air at the network. However, the flagship FBI series, which is also airing at present, will continue. It was renewed through the 2026–2027 network television schedule back in April 2024.
FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted get canceled by CBS
FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted have been canceled by CBS after Seasons 4 and 6, respectively. Most Wanted is the first spin-off franchise and premiered on January 7, 2020, following a backdoor pilot that aired as part of FBI Season 1 in 2019. Meanwhile, International debuted September 21, 2021. All three shows returned with current seasons on October 15, 2024. FBI is on its seventh season and will remain on TV at least up to its ninth chapter. On the other hand, Most Wanted and International are airing what have become their final seasons.
The news comes after a third scripted spin-off, FBI: CIA, was reportedly announced in January 2025. It’s unclear whether the cancellation of the older series had anything to do with the development of the new one, though recent reports suggest that FBI: CIA is in the works at CBS.
The FBI franchise focuses on various aspects of the eponymous government organization. The flagship series is about the agents working out of the criminal division of the FBI’s New York City field office, whereas Most Wanted follows those serving as part of the New York Fugitive Task Force (FTF). As for FBI: International, it revolves around the members of the FBI’s international “Fly Team” (IFT), who predominantly operate in Europe out of their head office in Budapest, Hungary.
The new FBI: CIA series will reportedly tell the story of a “dedicated, strait-laced FBI agent” working together with “a street-smart CIA agent” as part of a task force.
