Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, Glee) has officially been tapped to join the Dexter: Resurrection cast for Showtime‘s newest crime drama thriller. The sequel series is expected to launch sometime this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime.
Harris is set to portray the guest-starring role of Lowell. His casting comes after it was recently confirmed that Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has also signed on as a guest-star named Mia. Production is currently underway in New York City.
Who else is in the Dexter: Resurrection cast?
Dexter: Resurrection is once again led by Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall as he reprises his iconic role as Dexter Morgan. The ensemble cast also includes Uma Thurman as Charley, David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, with James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater.
The crime drama is executive produced by showrunner Clyde Phillips, with Marcos Siega to direct and produce. In addition to leading the cast, Hall is also serving as an executive producer, along with Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Tony Hernandez (Emily in Paris) and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll). It is a production by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios.
The original series ran on-air for eight seasons from 2006-2013. Besides Hall, the show also starred Jennifer Carpenter and John Lithgow. During its original run, it earned multiple Golden Globe and Emmy nominations as well as a Peabody Award, with Hall taking home a Golden Globe in 2010 for his leading performance.
