Jack Quaid recently addressed what the future holds for his character Hughie Campbell after The Boys Season 5 comes out. The fifth and final season was announced by the superhero drama’s showrunner Eric Kripke in June 2024, just before the premiere of Season 4. However, a release date window regarding the upcoming season hasn’t been confirmed by the makers yet.

The Companion star was present at the red Novocaine NASCAR event’s red carpet when he answered some questions regarding his character’s fate after The Boys Season 5.
Collider asked Jack Quaid whether there are any plans for Hughie Campbell after Season 5 airs, and about his interest in coming back. In response, he disclosed that he had “no idea.” However, Quaid stated that he would love to return. Moreover, he revealed that filming has already commenced on Season 5 and described the upcoming season as “bittersweet.”
The actor asserted that working on The Boys has “changed everything in my life for the better. I couldn’t be more grateful for the show, and I’m gonna cry like a baby when it’s over.” Additionally, Jack Quaid told the outlet, “I just love that cast and that crew so much. I don’t even know that I answered your question. I did not, I did not. I just I love all those guys so much, so it’s gonna be very bittersweet. I’m eternally grateful to Kripke and everyone there, really.”
While having a chat with The Hollywood Reporter in June 2024, showrunner Eric Kripke disclosed the reason behind ending The Boys with Season 5. He conveyed that he wanted “to wrap it out around season five.” Kripke further stated that the show’s story revolved around the “Butcher and Homelander slowly crashing into each other. You have to let them smash into each other.”
