Matthew Lillard, known for starring in 1996’s Scream and 2023’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, has joined the cast of Marvel‘s Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
Marvel Studios‘ Daredevil: Born Again will officially premiere on Disney+ next week. The MCU show is a continuation of the Netflix Daredevil and sees Charlie Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdock. Vincent D’Onofrio also returns as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Daredevil: Born Again has already been renewed for a second season and, per Deadline, Lillard has now been cast in an undisclosed role for the show’s next chapter.
In addition to playing Stu Macher in Wes Craven’s Scream and William Afton in Five Nights at Freddy’s, Lillard is known for playing Shaggy Rogers in 2002’s Scooby-Doo and the 2004 sequel Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. He continued to voice Shaggy in a number of animated Scooby-Doo projects released after Monsters Unleashed.
He’ll soon reprise both his Five Nights at Freddy’s and Scream roles in two forthcoming sequels: Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, which arrives this December, and Scream 7, which releases in 2026. Additionally, he also has a role in Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, which hits theaters on June 6, 2025.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, meanwhile, premieres on March 4, 2025. Coming from showrunner Dario Scardapane, the cast of the show also includes Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex Poindexter/Bullseye, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, and more.
“In Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock (Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York,” the synopsis reads. “When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.”
