As The Wheel of Time Season 3 nears its release date, a leading star of the show has come out to share his experiences behind formulating the third chapter, including why the edition took a long time to reach completion. Based on Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson’s novel series of the same name, The Wheel of Time revolves around Moiraine’s journey to find a prophesized warrior from a group of five, who would either bring peace to the world or would completely annihilate it. The fantasy drama has already spawned two seasons, with a third one on the way. Daniel Henney, who plays al’Lan Mandragoran, has finally given insight into the prolonged production periods between each entry.
Daniel Henney reveals why The Wheel of Time Season 3 took so long to happen
In a recent discussion, Henney shared his two cents on the changes fans can expect to see in The Wheel of Time Season 3 before explaining why announcing the release date of a new chapter takes so much time.
Speaking with The Direct, the Big Hero 6 star stated, “[Our] special effects are getting better constantly. That’s why it does take so long for our show to come back season after season because, you know, it’s a long time in VFX and post, but hopefully, when you see Season 3, you’ll see why.”
Notably, The Wheel of Time Season 3’s release date, which falls in March of the ongoing year, comes around 17 months after the conclusion of its predecessor. Meanwhile, the second edition of the series took approximately 22 months to premiere, following the end of Season 1 in late December 2021.
Henney also noted that the team behind The Wheel of Time Season 3 has opted for a change in cameras in a bid to elevate the audience’s experience. “We’ve changed some things with our cameras, and things we’re shooting much wider now. So you’re gonna, especially the battle sequences, you’re going to be able to see a lot more,” he said.
Season 3 has already received an official release date and will come out on March 13, 2025.
