Beloved The Office Star Returning for Peacock Sequel Series

One of the stars of The Office has reportedly joined the cast of the Peacock spin-off series, which is titled The Paper.

It was announced in 2024 that The Office creator Greg Daniels was working on a spin-off show. The series will be set in the same fictional universe as The Office but will follow a new set of characters who work at a Midwestern newspaper.

The cast of The Paper includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, and Eric Rahill.

Which The Office star has joined the cast of the spin-off series?

Oscar Nuñez will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez in The Paper, according to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider.

Nuñez plays Oscar, an accountant who works closely alongside Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) and Angela Martin (Angela Kinsey), in all nine seasons of The Office. In the series finale, Oscar is running for state senator and is named as the godfather of Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Angela’s son, Philip.

This means that Oscar could be a politician being covered by the newspaper that The Paper follows, assuming that he won the election, though nothing is confirmed on that front at this time and it’s unclear how large of a role Nuñez will have in the spin-off show.

The Paper is created and executive produced by Daniels and Michael Koman. Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas also serve as executive producers. It is a production by Universal Television.

Other guest stars who will be appearing in the show include Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson,  Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts.

A premiere date for The Paper has not yet been announced. All nine seasons of The Office, meanwhile, are currently available to watch on Peacock.
