A premiere date for The Last of Us Season 2 has been announced.
Based on the popular video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog for PlayStation, The Last of Us premiered in January 2023. HBO renewed the series for a second season shortly after the first season premiered, while The Last of Us Season 3 is also being planned.
When is the premiere date for The Last of Us Season 2?
The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and Max. The new season will have seven episodes in total.

“Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind,” the official logline reads.
The cast of the series includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac.
Additionally, Catherine O’Hara is playing an undisclosed character in The Last of Us Season 2.
The series is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. It is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television that is executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jaqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells. Halley Gross serves as a writer and co-executive producer, while the production companies are PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
The first season of The Last of Us is currently available to stream on Max.
