Max has canceled the comedy series Bookie after two seasons, as per Variety. The show, created by Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay, first premiered on Max in November 2023. Its second season was made available on the platform in December 2024. Sebastian Maniscalco features in the show as Danny Colavito, a veteran bookie navigating the legalization of sports gambling in Los Angeles.

A Max spokesperson issued a statement to Deadline, saying, “For two seasons creators Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay and their hilarious cast, led by Sebastian Maniscalco, made us laugh while pulling back the curtain on the world of sports betting. We won’t be moving forward with a third season, but we are grateful to have worked with such a brilliant team on this laugh out loud comedy.”

The ensemble cast includes Omar Dorsey as Ray Ballard, Andrea Anders as Sandra, and Vanessa Ferlito as Lorraine Colavito. Jorge Garcia plays Hector, Maxim Swinton plays Anthony, Rob Corddry portrays Walt Dinty, and Selina Kaye stars as Janelle.

Its other cast members include Arnetia Walker, Toby Huss, and Dale Dickey. Additionally, guest stars that featured on the show are: Charlie Sheen, Ray Romano, Laraine Newman, and Zach Braff. Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television produced Bookie, with Lorre, Bakay, Maniscalco, Andy Tennant, and Judi Marmel serving as executive producers.

Maniscalco, a stand-up comedian, earlier spoke about acting, stating, “It validates what I’m doing is funny. Because as a comedian, I like the laughter. I’m getting used to playing off other actors. I’m learning a lot each day.” (via Variety)

The series ran for 16 episodes over two seasons.
