The Legally Blonde prequel series has found its Elle Woods.
Amazon Prime Video is currently working on a new television series titled Elle, which will serve as a prequel to the Legally Blonde films. Reese Witherspoon previously played Elle Woods in 2001’s Legally Blonde and 2003’s Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.
On Instagram, Witherspoon announced that Lexi Minetree has been cast as a younger version of Elle Woods in Elle.
“Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods! After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on @PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle,” Witherspoon wrote. “And today, I got to break the news myself! Meet @leximinetree.”

What is the Legally Blonde prequel series about?
“Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film,” the official logline reads, via Variety.
Elle is created by Laura Kittrell, who will serve as co-showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. Both of them also serve as executive producers, as do Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt.
“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do,” Witherspoon previously said of the show, via Deadline. “What could be better than that?! I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true. Legally Blonde is back!”
A premiere date for Elle has not yet been announced.
