Prime Video has officially announced The Rings of Power Season 3 renewal for its hit fantasy drama, which serves as a prequel to the original Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Production is expected to begin sometime this spring at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom.

Amazon MGM Studios has also shared the official logline for Season 3, confirming that the next installment will feature a major time jump which will bring viewers at the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron. The directing lineup for Season 3 has also been revealed, including Charlotte Brandstrom (Shōgun), Sanaa Hamri (The Wheel of Time), and Stefan Schwartz (The Boys, The Walking Dead).
“Jumping forward several years from the events of season 2, season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last,” reads the show’s newest logline.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power features an ensemble cast led by Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Maxim Baldry as Isildur, Ismael Cruz Córdova as the Silvan elf Arondir, Charles Edwards as Elven smith Celebrimbor, Sophia Nomvete as dwarven princess Disa, Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Miriel, Ema Horvath as Eärien, and more.
The show is developed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who are serving as showrunners. Executive producers are Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, and Charlotte Brändström. It is produced by Kate Hazell, Helen Shang, Clare Buxton, Andrew Lee, Glenise Mullins, and Matthew Penry-Davey.
