After five captivating installments, 9-1-1: Lone Star finally concluded its run on the small screens with an emotional Season 5 finale. The ultimate episode of the series contained several tear-jerking moments, although none more impactful than the farewell scene of Gina Torres’ Tommy Vega. As fans still recover from the events of Season 5 Episode 12, the actress has come out to shed light on her character’s conclusive moments on the show, all the while hinting at a possible comeback for Vega in the near future.
9-1-1: Lone Star’s EP & Gina Torres discuss Tommy Vega’s potential return
In a recent discussion, the Suits star admitted that her character received a suitable ending in the 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 finale. She also voiced her interest in reprising the role of Tommy Vega in a future spin-off series.
While talking to Deadline, Gina Torres explained why Tommy Vega’s final moments on the show were befitting of the character’s true nature. “I think it was right on the money for Tommy. None of that surprised me. When I read it, I thought, ‘Yeah, of course, she’s a soldier.’ She’s gonna go out the way. She came in fighting and doing what she can. That’s what first responders do. They ignore the pain, they ignore what their bodies are telling them so that they can do their best for somebody else on their worst day. And so, it made perfect sense that that’s how Tommy would respond.”
9-1-1: Lone Star executive producer Rashad Raisani, who was also present in the interview, then relayed his thoughts on bringing the 126 family back after Season 5’s finale for future 9-1-1 editions. “The reason why everybody’s alive is, that would be great. There’d be nothing better than to have to revisit these characters in whatever context where they go to one of these cities or whether that city comes to them or LA, whatever it is,” he stated.
Gina Torres also reiterated Raisani’s sentiments and expressed gratitude to the showrunners for casting her into the mix. Addressing the possibilities of a potential return for Tommy Vega, the 55-year-old actress simply stated, “And yes, more please.”
As such, the 9-1-1: Lone Star team seems pretty enthusiastic about bringing back the lead characters after Season 5’s finale. Nevertheless, the franchise has yet to officially confirm a spin-off installment.
