The latest episode of Will Trent Season 3 marks the first time that Ramon Rodriguez’s titular character comes face to face with his ex-girlfriend Angie following their breakup in Season 2. Episode 4 of Season 3 sees Will and Angie join forces for a case, forcing them to come together despite him having arrested her in the Season 2 finale. Now, co-showrunner Liz Heldens has come out to shed light on the former couple’s future. While Erika Christensen’s Angie explicitly states that the two will not be dipping into romantic territory, Heldens seems to have other ideas regarding the duo’s fate in Will Trent Season 3.
Liz Heldens talks Will Trent and Angie’s future in Season 3
In a recent interview, the veteran television writer admitted that the door on Will and Angie’s complicated relationship hasn’t closed completely as of yet.
While talking to TVLine about the developments in Will Trent Season 3, Liz Heldens stated, “I think she wants to try. I mean, they both have a side to what happened at the end of Season 2. Her side is, “You arrested me in front of everybody,” and his side is, “I had to,” so I think that she’s trying to respect herself, and she’s really trying to let them both off the hook.”
Heldens then disclosed that Angie’s extreme reaction to her complex dynamics with Will could just be a momentary response. “You know, we all say things one day and feel differently the next day. We try. You say you’re going to change, and you stumble, so we’ll see. But I think she meant it in the moment,” she continued.
Albeit, as Will figures out his present relationship with Angie, he also seems to have encountered another potential love interest in the form of Gina Rodriguez’s ADA Marion Alba. Thus, despite her comments about Will and Angie, Heldens did not shy away from teasing a possible connection between the titular Special Agent and Alba in Will Trent Season 3. “Things get interesting with them in Episode 6,” the co-showrunner stated.
