Paradise’s Sarah Shahi Shocked by [Spoiler]’s Killer

Hulu’s sci-fi thriller drama series Paradise begins by setting up a murder mystery.

The protagonist, Sterling K. Brown’s Special Agent Xavier Collins, discovers the body of James Marsden’s President Cal Bradford early in the first episode. The show makes it quite clear that anyone could be the killer, including Xavier, due to his complicated history with Cal. Episodes 2 and 3 shed more light on the conspiracy and point toward more suspects. While viewers are trying to figure out what happened to Cal, the cast members already know the answer. Sarah Shahi, who plays Gabriela Torabi in the show, recently revealed that she was shocked to learn the killer’s identity.

Sarah Shahi is ‘still surprised’ by who killed Paradise’s Cal

Sarah Shahi disclosed in a new interview with US Weekly that she was “still surprised” by the revelation of Cal’s murderer. “I don’t think anyone saw this coming. I am still surprised,” she said. “I’m still surprised and I know what happened,” Shahi continued.

Earlier in the interview, Shahi mentioned the cast was “kept in the dark” about Cal’s murderer when the production began. She added, “At least I was, I didn’t know until later.”

Shahi’s Gabriela is a therapist. She built the psychological aspect of life in Paradise City, constructed in a massive bunker in the Colorado Mountains. Her co-star, Julianne Nicholson, portrays Samantha Redmond, the billionaire who funded the bunker. Nicholson stated during the same interview, “I’m always happy for me — the actor — to have as much information as the character does because it is just nicer to not have to fake it sometimes. We knew fairly soon after filming.”

Nicholson went on to explain that the real challenge was to keep it still a secret now while speaking to the media. Notably, according to series creator Dan Fogelman, the viewers will have to wait until the season finale to get answers about Cal’s murder.
