Dexter: Resurrection is officially in production. Michael C. Hall, the original Dexter Morgan actor, is celebrating the first day of production for the upcoming spin-off.
“I am on the set for the first official day of production for Dexter: Resurrection… it’s happening,” Hall said in a clip posted on X (formerly Twitter). “I’m looking forward to taking another thrill ride, and when all is said and done, to you taking the ride with us. Stay tuned.”

What is Dexter: Resurrection about?
While other details about Dexter: Resurrection are still being kept under wraps, it is expected to be a direct follow-up to Dexter: New Blood. With Hall starring as Dexter once again, the spin-off — set in the present day — will pick up after the blood-filled events of Dexter: New Blood. It is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
Dexter: Resurrection will also feature the return of David Zayas as Angel Batista, James Remar as Harry Morgan, with Jack Alcott (first seen in Dexter: New Blood) as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan.
Hall first played the titular serial killer in Showtime’s Dexter, which aired back in 2006 and spanned a total of eight seasons all the way through 2013. He reprised the iconic role in 2021 with the limited series Dexter: New Blood, serving as the continuation of the original series.
The franchise then continued to expand with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, centering on the serial killer’s earlier years as a newly hired forensic intern. It stars Shadow and Bone’s Patrick Gibson as the young Dexter Morgan alongside Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Molly Brown as Debra, Christina Milian as María, James Martinez as Angel Batista, and Patrick Dempsey as Aaron, with Hall as the narrator and the inner voice of the young Dexter.
