The Rookie Season 7 premiered on ABC on January 7, 2025, and the fans noticed that Jenna Dewan’s character Bailey Nune isn’t in it. This has led to speculations on whether she will be gone for a while and the reasons behind her absence. However, showrunner and series creator Alexi Hawley has assured the fans that they would not have to wait long for Bailey’s return.
Alexi Hawley says Bailey will return in The Rookie Season 7 Episode 3
The showrunner disclosed in a new interview that Jenna Dewan’s Bailey Nune would return to the show sooner than expected. Bailey was originally introduced in Season 3 as a guest character. The firefighter became a prominent part of the show as the main love interest and eventual wife of Nathan Fillion’s John Nolan.
When asked in an interview with Screen Rant about when Bailey was returning, Alexi Hawley said, “Yeah. I mean, Jenna had a baby, so we see her at the end of Episode 3, basically.” Notably, Dewan is in a relationship with Steve Kazee, who is also an actor. They welcomed their daughter, Rhiannon Lee Kathryn Kazee, on June 14, 2024.
The actress took to Instagram to share the happy news with her fans. Posting a couple of photos with her newborn daughter, she wrote, “From the moment you arrived, you have brought immense joy and love into our lives… your gentle grace, sweetness, and beauty have captivated our entire family. Our hearts are overflowing with love, and we are truly blessed by your presence. Welcome to our world baby girl.”
Jenna Dewan and Kazee also have a son together, Callum Michael Rebel Kazee, born in March 2020. Although the actress was pregnant in real life, it wasn’t written into her character’s story in Season 6 of The Rookie. Instead, Bailey dealt with other issues. In the finale, it is revealed that her former husband Jason Wyler has fled from the prison. So, he could potentially have something to do with Bailey’s absence in the first two episodes of the seventh season.
The Rookie Season 7 airs every Tuesday at 10 PM ET.
