Grimm Reboot in the Works at Peacock With Original Creative Team

A Grimm reboot is officially in the works at Peacock. Deadline reports the creator of the original NBC drama is set to return in a production capacity.

What do we know about the Grimm reboot?

Currently, not a whole lot is known about the series, with the exact premise of the reboot being kept under wraps. The new series will have a lot of familiar faces around it, though, as Deadline is reporting that the original series’ creative team, co-creators, executive producers, and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf are attached as executive producers.

The new series will be written by Josh Berman, the creator of the series Drop Dead Diva. He will work on the show alongside its original creators, according to Deadline. The report also mentions that the new reboot could potentially “launch a franchise,” but it’s unclear whether that’s true as of yet.

The original Grimm series ran from 2011-17 on NBC, and followed Portland homicide detective Nicholas Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) who discovered he is a Grimm, a guardian who protects both humans and mythological creatures. The series also starred Russell Hornsby, Bitsie Tulloch, Silas Weir Mitchell, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.

The series was a hit for NBC, running for six seasons over 120 episodes despite mixed reviews. The series was originally developed for CBS, but ended up not moving forward due in part to the 2007-08 writer’s strike.
