Netflix accidentally reveals Squid Game Season 3’s release date
Netflix appears to have unintentionally disclosed the release date for Squid Game Season 3.
A promotional video briefly uploaded on Netflix Korea’s YouTube channel mentioned a premiere date of June 27, 2025. The video was quickly removed, but fans and outlets such as Hollywood Handle and Forbes documented the details. Hollywood Handle shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Netflix accidentally reveals that the final season of ‘SQUID GAME’ releases on June 27.”
This aligns with comments from series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, who previously hinted at a summer 2025 release. In an interview with Variety, Hwang said, “After Season 2 launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for Season 3 soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year.” He added that the new season will focus on Gi-hun’s state after Season 2, calling it “a very critical crossroads.”
Season 2 ended in December 2024 with a major cliffhanger. The creator revealed that Seasons 2 and 3 were originally conceived as one arc. He said, “When I first wrote the story of Seasons 2 and 3, it was one long story arc… I wanted to have an adequate point where I could give closure as a second season and then move on with the third.” This led to Season 3 being produced immediately after Season 2.
Netflix has not confirmed the June 27 release date, but the leak aligns with its 2025 schedule. Fans now await official announcements and expect further developments in Gi-hun’s journey, along with answers to questions from the Season 2 finale.
