Eddie Redmayne has announced that he will return for The Day of the Jackal Season 2. Redmayne will reprise his role as the Jackal, the international assassin who remains anonymous thanks to his many aliases and disguises.
In a video message posted to Sky TV’s social media accounts, Redmayne confirmed his return to the hit TV show.
“If there’s one thing that the Jackal can’t stand, it’s a loose end,” Redmayne said. “So, we will see you soon for Season 2.”

The Day of the Jackal is a thriller that pits the Jackal up against Bianca Pullman (Lashana Lynch), an MI6 agent who sets out to catch the titular assassin.
“An unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal, (Redmayne) makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee,” the official synopsis reads. “But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer (Lynch) who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.”
Besides Redmayne and Lynch, The Day of the Jackal stars Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, and Sule Rimi.
Ronan Bennett is the creator and executive producer of The Day of the Jackal, based on Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel of the same name. Additional executive producers include Redmayne, Lynch, Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, Sam Hoyle, Sue Naegle, and Brian Kirk.
The Day of the Jackal Season 1 premiered in November on Peacock and Sky. The Day of the Jackal ranked first on Peacock’s Top 10 TV Shows and was a Top 5 streaming original drama in the US for its opening weekend, per Nielsen data.
The series also became a hit on Sky, with the first episode reaching a 28-day cumulative audience of 4.6 million. The finale delivered the biggest overnights for an episode of a Sky Original drama series ever. The show’s popularity led to a Season 2 renewal just weeks after the premiere.
The Day of the Jackal received two Golden Globe nominations in the drama categories, including Best Television Series and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series (Redmayne).
