The Last of Us Season 2 Release Date Window Revealed for HBO & Max

Fans of The Last of Us can rejoice as Season 2 of the show has finally received an official release date. Created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann and based on a video game franchise of the same name, the HBO series garnered positive reviews when it debuted in 2023. Warner Bros. Discovery global streaming chief JB Perrette has now confirmed The Last of Us Season 2’s premiere schedule on HBO Max.

The Last of Us Season 2 set to get Spring 2025 release date

Perrette announced the release date window for The Last of Us Season 2 in a tech and media conference hosted by Wells Fargo. The WB executive also provided brief updates on the launch plans of other HBO hits such as White Lotus.

As disclosed by Perrette, The Last of Us will be getting its second season in the spring of 2025. This means that viewers will finally be getting the second season of the show more than two years after the debut of the first season.

Aside from The Last of Us Season 2, Perrette also shed light on the HBO Max release dates of other WB properties, such as Euphoria, whose third season will be coming out in 2026, per Variety. Moreover, the much-anticipated Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has also been confirmed to premiere in late 2025.

The Last of Us Season 2 will once again follow Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie as well as introduce other important new characters into the mix. Per the official synopsis, the second season takes place five years after the events of the first season. While things start off on a peaceful note, Joel and Ellie’s past soon comes back to add more trouble to their post-apocalyptic battle for survival.
