Starz has officially announced that there will be a Sweetpea Season 2, renewing the Ella Purnell-led revenge thriller series for another year.
What do we know about Sweetpea Season 2?
According to Starz in a statement on the news (via The Hollywood Reporter), Season 2 of Sweetpea will pick up where the first left off and “will see Rhiannon Lewis (Purnell) return with a vengeance as her killer secret continues to spiral and she becomes more twisted than ever.”
In a statement on the renewal, star Ella Purnell said that playing the character has been a “career highlight” for her, and is excited to get back into it and show fans what’s next.
“Being part of Rhiannon’s coming-of-rage journey has been a career highlight for me, and to see fans engage with and relate to our oddball Rhiannon, in all her complexity, feels truly special,” said star and executive producer Purnell. “I cannot wait for audiences to see what she does next.”
Currently, any other information on Sweetpea Season 2 is unknown, other than Purnell’s return to the series.
“Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression — people walk past her in the street without a second glance,” reads the official synopsis for Sweetpea. “She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?”
Sweetpea is led by Ella Purnell (Fallout) as Rhiannon and also stars Nicôle Lecky (Sense8) as Julia, Jon Pointing (Big Boys) as Craig, Calam Lynch (Bridgerton) as AJ, Leah Harvey (Foundation) as Marina, Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso) as Norman, and Dustin Demri-Burns (Slow Horses) as Jeff.
