Netflix’s blockbuster series Wednesday is nearing its Season 2 release date, with reports suggesting that the next installment has wrapped filming. The show made its streaming debut in 2022 to dazzling reviews, uniting critics and audiences alike in its praise. Since then, fans have waited eagerly for updates regarding its sequel. In an encouraging update for the viewers, a recent development seems to hint that the follow-up edition could be done with shooting.
Wednesday Season 2 reportedly wraps up production in Ireland
Per a post from a Wednesday Season 2 crew member, filming on the project has seemingly reached its definitive phase. A crew member took to social media to share a cryptic message, potentially revealing the progress on production.
The post read, “To My Grim Companions, I offer my thanks for the many hours of blood, sweat, and ominous lighting that went into this production. If I had the capacity for warmth, I might even say it was a pleasure. But let’s not get carried away. Eternally ungrateful, Wednesday Addams.”
As such, many have interpreted the message to be a sign of Wednesday Season 2 having wrapped filming and production. Development on the installment initially commenced in May 2024 in Ireland following multiple delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023.
Besides the aforementioned post, comments from Jenna Ortega’s makeup artist also indicate that filming on Wednesday Season 2 is completed. The artist confirmed her departure on the set on November 22, yet again with a social media post.
Wednesday’s sequel is one of the most anticipated TV shows at present. It is currently the most-watched show on Netflix, accumulating over 1.72 billion ours watched, according to What’s on Netflix. This roughly equates to 252 million completed views, which further elevates the performance of the series.
While little is known regarding the release date of Wednesday Season 2, it is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
