John Krasinski & Matthew Rhys To Star in Serial Killer Drama Silent River

John Krasinski and Matthew Rhys are officially attached to star in Silent River, an upcoming serial killer drama series on Prime Video.

According to a new report from Variety, Krasinski and Rhys will not only star in the series, but also executive produce. Krasinski will also come onto the project in a directorial role, directing the pilot and other episodes for the series.

Aaron Rabin is credited as the creator of the series and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Andrew Bernstein, who is attached as a director.

What do we know about Silent River?

“Through the lens of two men, whose lives are far more connected than they realize, ‘Silent River’ explores the cracks of small-town America in the wake of discovering a serial killer among them,” according to the series’ logline.

While he’s best known for his role as Jim Halpert on the NBC comedy The Office, Krasinski has branched out into a bona fide Hollywood superstar. The actor/director has starred in 2018’s A Quiet Place, which he also directed, and most recently starred in 2024’s IF. In the world of television, Krasinski has also played the titular role in the Prime Video series Jack Ryan.

Rhys is best known for his starring role in the spy drama series The Americans, but has also appeared in high-profile projects like The Owl House, Saturday Night, Cocaine Bear, Seal Team, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and more.

“We are thrilled to continue our work with John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, and Sunday Night on this gripping series, which delves into the mysteries and secrets of small-town America,“ said Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios. “With John and Matthew Rhys attached to star in this wonderful story from Aaron Rabin, our global customers will be on the edge of their seats throughout this thought-provoking, psychological thriller.”
