Creature Commandos Clayface Actor Revealed for DCU Animated Series

The upcoming animated DC Universe animated series Creature Commandos has officially found its Clayface, and it’s a familiar voice to the character.

Who is playing Clayface in Creature Commandos?

During a recent interview with the cast of the upcoming series, Alan Tudyk — who already plays Doctor Phosphorus in the show — revealed that he would also be playing the role of Clayface, the iconic shape-shifting Batman villain that Tudyk played in the DC animated series Harley Quinn. According to Tudyk, the role came to him when DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn asked him to play it.

“I play Clayface in this series,” Tudyk said. An important distinction, according to Tudyk, is that in the Harley Quinn series, Clayface is more of an “idiot,” but “in this, Clayface is a killer. He’s a homicidal maniac. So it’s the same character. That’s really cool about DC. I get to play the actual same character two completely different ways and I like them both. It’s really nice that James let me play Clayface. I didn’t even have to ask.”

Tudyk’s role as Clayface in Harley Quinn is a fan favorite of the series, so his return to the character is sure to leave everyone happy. It’s unclear, however, whether Tudyk will also be playing Clayface in any live-action films that the character might appear in.

In previous interviews, James Gunn was adamant that he’d like the people playing DCU roles in animated projects to also play the character in any other role. However, with Tudyk also playing the role of Doctor Phosphorus and the status of any DCU Batman project up in the air, it’s unknown as of now if Tudyk will return.

Outside of Tudyk, Creature Commandos’ voice cast includes Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn as GI Robot and Weasel, David Harbour as Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

Creature Commandos premieres on December 5, 2024, as part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
