Ever since Netflix’s Emily in Paris debuted in 2020, the comedy-drama series has amassed a huge fanbase. One of the most impactful characters in Emily in Paris is Gabriel, portrayed by Lucas Bravo. Despite sharing exceptional chemistry, Gabriel and Emily eventually grow apart, leading to significant alterations in his story arc. In a recent discussion, Bravo reflected on his character’s subsequent storyline and also shed light on his future in Emily in Paris Season 5.
Lucas Bravo unsure of returning as Gabriel in Emily in Paris Season 5
Lucas Bravo stated that he started to grow apart from his character as the seasons progressed. This makes him question if he would reprise the role of Gabriel for Emily in Paris Season 5.
The French actor shared his views on the progression of Gabriel’s story in the show, during an interview with IndieWire. Bravo recalled that things kicked off on a positive note for his character, only to turn worse in the subsequent seasons. “The ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take. I’ve never been so far away from him,” he shared.
Bravo pointed at the creative decisions that saw Gabriel becoming “unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone.”
Addressing the possibilities of his return to Emily in Paris Season 5, Lucas Bravo highlighted the restrictions he faces while embodying Gabriel. “We cannot change a word or an emotion. They know what they want and we just have to comply,” he said.
The Freedom star added, “It makes me question if I want to be part of Season 5 because my contract ends at Season 4.” However, despite his negative experience, Bravo reaffirmed that he would like to come back to Emily in Paris. But this could be only if “Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self.”
Meanwhile, lead actress Lily Collins has already confirmed that Emily in Paris will be returning for a fifth season. Nevertheless, the project has yet to receive an official release date from Netflix.
