As Netflix continues to churn out one original series after the other, more and more Hollywood A-listers join the ever-growing world of streaming. One of the most-anticipated projects currently in their pipeline is the small-screen adaptation of John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel, East of Eden. The show has been confirmed to be a miniseries, spanning a total of seven episodes. Florence Pugh has already been recruited to occupy the leading role of Cathy Ames, and in a recent development, more renowned actors have been added to the glittering cast of the limited series.
Ciaran Hinds, Martha Plimpton, and others join Florence Pugh in Netflix’s East of Eden cast
Aside from Pugh, Netflix has now added the likes of Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciaran Hinds, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders to the cast of East of Eden. The actors will now screen with Pugh, as well as the previously announced cast of Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, and Hoon Lee.
The series will convey the interconnected story of two families in California’s Salinas Valley, namely the Trasks and the Hamiltons. East of Eden is set to be narrated from the perspective of Cathy Ames, the newest member of the Trask family who is portrayed by Pugh.
The show was only sanctioned in September, with Netflix acquiring its rights in 2022 after a bidding war. Zoe Kazan, whose grandfather Elia Kazan helmed a 1955 movie on the same novel will serve as the co-showrunner. Jeb Stuart is the other creator, who will also executive produce East of Eden alongside Florence Pugh and Kazan.
Among the newly recruited actors, Tracy Letts has been cast as the head of the Trask family. Meanwhile, Ciaran Hinds and Martha Plimpton will portray Samuel Hamilton and Faye, a brothel owner, respectively. Additionally, Joseph Zada and Joe Anders will be playing Adam Trask’s sons, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite the recently released details about East of Eden, an official release date remains unknown at the time of writing.
