The Boys Season 5 Finds Its Bombsight, Could Also Appear in Prequel Vought Rising

The cast of The Boys Season 5 continues to grow, with Variety reporting that Mason Dye has joined the series to play a superhero.

According to Variety’s report, Dye will play Bombsight, a hero briefly mentioned in the fourth season of the hit Prime Video series. In the fifth episode of Season 4, he is offhandedly mentioned as a very old superhero that appeared in an in-universe movie called The Curse of Fu Manchu. Nothing else is known about the hero as of now, or how he’ll fit into the upcoming season of the show.

Alongside his role in The Boys Season 5, Variety also notes that Dye’s Bombsight could also show up in Vought Rising, the upcoming prequel series of The Boys starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash. It’s unclear just how much of The Boys universe Dye will appear in as of now, however.

What do we know about The Boys Season 5?

While not too much is known about the upcoming fifth season of The Boys, series star Giancarlo Esposito has teased that it’ll be big.

“I think it’s going to be a whirlwind season. Every show that comes to an end has an explosive ending in its final season, and The Boys is just such a very outrageous show, but also reflective of the world we live in now. When superheroes have the power to not only save us, but to harm us, that’s an interesting show,” the actor told Deadline during the 76th Emmys.

The Boys series is created and executive produced by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, based on the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The series currently stars Karl Urban, Antony Star, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Claudia Doumit, Colby Minifie, Simon Pegg, Cameron Crovetti, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Valorie Curry, Susan Heyward and more.
