A Friends-themed competition show is soon coming to Max in honor of the hit sitcom’s 30th anniversary, set to see players vying for the “Ultimate Friends Fan” title.
The classic comedy first premiered on NBC on September 22, 1994, and starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and the late Matthew Perry. Since its premiere, the sitcom has been widely regarded as one of the best television shows, making a household name out of its ensemble main leads. The comedy ran for ten seasons.
Now, to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary, Max has ordered a Friends-inspired game show called Fast Friends.
What to expect in Fast Friends?
Produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, Fast Friends is a four-part competition series set in The Friends Experience: The One in New York (a 17,000-square-foot attraction inspired by the set of the acclaimed show), where the winning team will be granted the “Ultimate Friends Fan” title.
Per TheWrap’s report, the planned game show will see fans relive iconic moments from the show, “from racing through Rachel and Monica’s apartment to darting across Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad and grabbing a coffee at Central Perk,” all while being “put to the test with trivia, puzzles and games that will keep even the most die-hard Friends fans on their toes.”
The release date for the competition series has yet to be announced, though it is expected to begin production in October. It is executive produced by Dan Sacks, Bridgette Theriault, and Dan Norris, with Richard Burgio serving as co-executive producer.
Apart from Fast Friends, Max will also celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary with a number of collections including “The Most Watched Episodes,” “Chandler Bing, the King of One-Liners (Best of Chandler),” “We Were on a Break (Ross and Rachel Highlights),” “Friendsgiving (Thanksgiving Episodes),” and more.
All ten seasons of Friends are available to stream on Max.
