Nicole Kidman & Jamie Lee Curtis’s Scarpetta Lands Prime Video Series Order

Almost two years after it was announced that Academy Award-winning actresses Nicole Kidman (The Perfect Couple) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once) would headline a series based on Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta novels, the project — titled Scarpetta — has officially landed a series order at Prime Video

Prime Video has ordered two seasons of Scarpetta, with both Kidman and Curtis still on board to star. The two will also serve as executive producers alongside Liz Sarnoff (Barry), who will also serve as the writer and showrunner.

What is Scarpetta about?

Based on a popular series of crime novels, the mystery thriller series will follow medical examiner Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), who “returns to Virginia and resumes her former position with complex relationships, both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with plenty of grudges and secrets to uncover.”

There are currently over 28 Scarpetta novels as of this writing.

Joining Kidman and Curtis are Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher) as former detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker (Boy Swallows Universe) as Benton Wesley, Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Lucy Farinelli-Watson, Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean) as the younger Kay Scarpetta, and Jake Cannavale (Eat, Brains, Love) as the younger Pete Marino.

Scarpetta hails from Blumhouse Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with David Gordon Green directing the first two episodes. The project will reunite Green and Curtis, who both previously worked together for the three Halloween movies (Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends).

“I’m beyond excited that this is finally happening. This will be great fun for all, and I’m grateful for the immense talent that the show is drawing. I’ve always been a huge fan of Jamie Lee Curtis and Nicole Kidman. Their wanting to do this is humbling and simply awesome,” said Cornwell in a statement.

No release date has been set for Scarpetta.
