Tim Robinson Comedy Series The Chair Company Scores Full Series Order From HBO

Tim Robinson’s new comedy series, The Chair Company, has been given a series order from HBO.

In April 2024, HBO greenlit a half-hour pilot for The Chair Company, a new 30-minute comedy series that stars Robinson. Robinson also serves as a writer and executive producer for The Chair Company alongside Zach Kanin.

Now, HBO has announced in a press release that The Chair Company has been given a full series order. A release date has not yet been set.

What is Tim Robinson’s The Chair Company about?

“After an embarrassing incident at work, a man (Robinson) finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy,” the logline for the series reads.

Andrew DeYoung directed the pilot episode of The Chair Company. DeYoung also serves as an executive producer with Robinson and Kanin, as do Adam McKay, Todd Schulman, and Igor Srubshchik.

Along with Robinson as William Ronald Trosper, the series stars Lake Bell as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips also guest-starred in the pilot episode as Jeff Levjman.

“We are so excited and thankful to get to make this show with HBO, HyperObject, and all of the amazing cast and crew that have helped to create it,” Robinson and Kanin said in a statement.

Robinson and Kanin are best known for creating the sketch comedy show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson for Netflix. The two of them also worked with Sam Richardson and Joe Kelly to create Detroiters for Comedy Central, while Robinson was also a Saturday Night Live cast member from 2012 to 2016.

Robinson’s filmography includes 2016’s Brother Nature, 2020’s An American Pickle, 2022’s Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers (which saw him voice Ugly Sonic), and 2022’s Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm, while he also had an uncredited cameo in 2023’s Scream VI. He’ll soon be seen in Friendship, a new comedy movie that also stars Paul Rudd that recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
