Agatha All Along Creator Said WandaVision Taught Her How to Handle Fan Theories

Jac Schaeffer’s second Marvel series, Agatha All Along, bows on Disney+ later this month. The mystery surrounding the show has already inspired bold predictions from viewers. Schaeffer says she learned how to handle fan theories from her time on WandaVision.

What Did Agatha All Along Creator Say About Fan Theories?

During WandaVision’s run, several fan theories dominated the discussion, including the potential debuts of Mephisto and Reed Richards. Schaeffer thought nothing of them at first, but over time, the speculation from viewers overwhelmed her.

“At the time, with WandaVision, I took the fan theories a little personally, and I feel like I’ve changed since then after walking through the WandaVision experience,” Schaeffer told The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone at Marvel during WandaVision was so relaxed about the fan theories, and I now understand that there are always going to be theories.”

Agatha All Along fan theories have already started, with the identity of Joe Locke’s character becoming a topic of conversation. This time around, Schaeffer knows how to control the narrative and “protect” the series.

“You just have to do your work and do it as best you can and hope that the audience enjoys the journey of it. So I am not as preoccupied with them as I was,” Schaeffer said. “But, yes, the short answer is there are a handful of things that of course I can’t explain. I have been very careful with the language that I use in order to protect things.”

Developed by Schaeffer, Agatha All Along stars Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, a witch without powers after the events of WandaVision.

“The infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell,” the official synopsis reads. “Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road.”

Besides Hahn, Agatha All Along stars Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Debra Jo Rupp, Patti LuPone, and Aubrey Plaza.

Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ on September 18, 2024.
