The Talamasca has found its lead star in Nicholas Denton, as the upcoming series continues to build up AMC‘s universe of Anne Rice shows. That already includes Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, both of which have been renewed for additional seasons.
The Talamasca represents the latest in what AMC refers to as its Immortal Universe. The latest entry focuses on a secretive society called The Talamasca, which has been mentioned in Interview with the Vampire and integrated into the plot. The six-episode season will put the spotlight on the people responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe. Planned for a 2025 premiere, the show will begin production in Manchester, England next month.
Who is Nicholas Denton playing in The Talamasca, and where do you know him from?
Denton plays Guy Anatole. According to the official description, the character is brilliant, handsome, and sharp. But he’s always been aware that his mind works a little differently. As he’s just about to graduate from law school, Guy is approached by a representative of the Talamasca, a secretive agency that monitors and protects us from the supernatural world.
Guy learns that the Talamasca has been following him since he was a child. It’s not long before Guy finds himself immersed in a world filled with both secret agents and immortals begins. The two opposing sides have so far kept up a fragile balance. It has kept the mortal world safe, but for that delicate balance to hold, not to mention for Guy’s survival ”he will have to learn to embrace the dark, treacherous depths of his true and singular self”, according to the official summary.
Denton has played Valmont in the Starz prequel to Dangerous Liaisons. Among the 2018 Heath Ledger Scholarships Finalists, the actor has also appeared in films like Eden, and shows like Glitch, Utopia, and the Acorn TV show My Life Is Murder starring Lucy Lawless.
Anne Rice’s The Talamasca, intended for AMC and AMC+, is executive produced by the Oscar-nominated John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) and Mark Lafferty (The Right Stuff, Halt and Catch Fire), who also serve as co-showrunners, and award-winning producer Mark Johnson, who oversees the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Hancock will also direct.
