Ahsoka Season 2 Star Provides Discouraging Production & Release Date Update

As the Ahsoka Season 2 release date becomes highly anticipated, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who plays Sabine Wren in Ahsoka, recently provided key information about the show’s production timeline, which also hints at its release window. Fans of the Star Wars series will have to wait a while before the show returns on Disney Plus as it won’t begin filming until 2025.

Ahsoka Season 2’s Natasha Liu Bordizzo reveals filming window

Natasha Liu Bordizzo has hinted that filming for Ahsoka Season 2 will not begin until the summer of 2025.

At Dragon Con 2024, Bordizzo revealed that she would be unavailable for the event next year due to filming commitments for the show, suggesting that Ahsoka Season 2 may not begin filming until the summer of 2025, according to Smart Dissent on X (formerly Twitter). Season 2 will address the many unresolved plotlines from Season 1, which ended with dramatic cliffhangers involving key characters from Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars.

During the panel, Bordizzo joined fellow Star Wars actors Giancarlo Esposito, Manny Jacinto, and Danny Trejo. They discussed their ongoing and upcoming projects. Skeleton Crew and Andor Season 2 have finished filming and are scheduled for earlier releases, but Ahsoka Season 2 appears to be the only confirmed series that has not yet begun production.

Ahsoka Season 2’s release date won’t be until 2026

Filming for Ahsoka Season 2 will likely begin in the summer of 2025. Therefore, fans can expect the new season to release in 2026.

The timeline indicates that the earliest the new season could debut is mid-2026, factoring in the typical post-production timelines for large-scale series like Ahsoka. This would result in a three-year gap between Season 1, which premiered in 2023, and the upcoming season.

This extended timeline mirrors other Star Wars series, like The Mandalorian. It also experienced breaks between seasons due to production schedules. The Mandalorian and Grogu movie is set for a May 2026 release. Ahsoka Season 2 is expected to premiere around the same time. It may debut either before or after the film to maintain continuity within the Mandoverse.
