Poltergeist TV Show at Amazon MGM Studios Finds Showrunners

Amazon‘s long-in-development Poltergeist TV show has officially found its showrunners, with Variety reporting that Kalinda Vazquez and Robbie Thompson have been tapped to head up the show.

What do we know about the Poltergeist TV show?

The pair have officially boarded the project as writers, showrunners, and executive producers and will help develop the upcoming project from Amazon MGM Studios. The series, which was originally reported to be in the works last year, is still shrouded in mystery but is said to be inspired by the legendary 1982 horror film of the same name.

Vazquez has spent more than 20 years working in entertainment as a writer and producer. She’s most well known for her work on the hit Fox drama Prison Break, as well as The CW espionage series Nikita.

Thompson was a writer and co-executive producer on several seasons of Supernatural and was also the creator and showrunner for the prequel series The Winchesters. Thompson is big in the world of comic books, having written several books for Marvel characters, including Venom, Spider-Man, and more.

Poltergeist was a 1982 horror movie written by Steven Spielberg. Craig T. Nelson stars as Steve Freeling, who lives with his wife, Diane (JoBeth Williams), and their three children, Dana (Dominique Dunne), Robbie (Oliver Robins), and Carol Anne (Heather O’Rourke), in Southern California, where he sells houses for the company that built the neighborhood.
