The Gilded Age Season 3 Cast Adds Merritt Wever, Leslie Uggams & More

HBO has announced the casting of Merritt Wever (Unbelievable), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool & Wolverine), Bill Camp (The Queen’s Gambit), Lisagay Hamilton (The Practice), Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark), Andrea Martin (Evil), Hatti Morahan (Operation Mincemeat), and Paul Alexander Nolan (Hudson & Rex), who have been tapped to join The Gilded Age Season 3 cast for the next installment to the hit period drama. Production on Season 3 is now underway.

Listed below are the new cast members’ full character descriptions:

  • Wever is Monica O’ Brien — the estranged sister of Bertha Russell
  • Uggams is Mrs. Ernestine Brown — a friend of Elizabeth Kirkland and a member of the Black elite community in Newport.
  • Camp is JP Morgan — who finds himself at odds with George Russell (Morgan Spector) over the future of the railroad industry.
  • Hamilton is Frances Ellen Watkins Harper — the famed Black suffragist who inspires Peggy to become involved in her cause in spite of the dissenting opinions of those around her.
  • Andrea Martin is Madame Dashkova – a medium who claims to be able to commune with the dead.
  • Paul Alexander Nolan is Alfred Merrick — a dashing, wealthy New York businessman.
  • Hattie Morgan is Lady Sarah Vere, sister to the Duke of Buckingham.
  • Jessica Frances Dukes is Athena Trumbo – Dorothy’s beloved first cousin and a part of an elite enclave of Black residents of Newport.

Who is in The Gilded Age Season 3 cast?

The Gilded Age Season 3 will feature returning stars Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Ben Ahlers, Michael Cerveris, Kelley Curran, Taissa Farmiga, Jack Gilpin, and more. The next installment will also introduce previously announced cast members Phylicia Rashad, Brian Stokes Mitchel, Victoria Clark, and Jordan Donica.

The series is created and executive produced by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes from a screenplay he co-wrote with Sonja Warfield. It is executive produced by Warfield, Gareth Neame, David Crockett, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and Micheal Engler, with the latter two also serving as directors. It is a co-production between HBO and Universal Television.

“The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic and social change, when huge fortunes were made and lost overnight,” reads the Season 3 logline. “With the old guard officially deposed, New York society finds itself turned upside down, and all must get their house in order. But even those at the helm of this new era may find that change comes at a cost.”
