The John Wick universe continues expanding, with Lionsgate actively working on a new John Wick TV series known as John Wick: Under The High Table.
What is the John Wick TV series about?
According to a recent report from Deadline, the series will serve as a sequel to John Wick: Chapter 4 and will pick up directly after the end of the movie. The series will focus on the world of the High Table — the fictional group that oversees the assassins in the franchise — and a “collection of new characters will look to make a name for themselves while some of the franchise stalwart characters remain committed to the old-world order.”
The report mentions that Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski (who directed all four John Wick movies) are involved in producer roles, with Stahelski set to direct the pilot episode of the series. The series will be written by Robert Levine (The Old Man co-creator). While Reeves is not involved in any acting capacity as of now, Deadline notes that he is being “very hands-on” with the project and serving as an executive producer alongside Stahelski.
John Wick: Chapter 4 focused on assassin Caine (Donnie Yen) looking to earn their freedom from the High Table and tracking down Keanu Reeves’ Wick in the process. The movie ends with Wick and Caine competing in a sunrise duel and Wick killing the High Table’s Marquis (Bill Skarsgård) before presumably dying from his injuries.
Deadline also reported that a fifth John Wick film is still in development and that John Wick: Under The High Table won’t interfere with any plans for future installments in the franchise.
